The Backbone of Every Operation in The OR
Surgical Technologist
A Surgical Technologist, or CST, is a key member of the surgical team who ensures surgeries run smoothly and safely. They prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments and equipment, making sure everything is clean and ready. They also assist in preparing the patient and maintain sterility throughout the procedure to prevent infection.
During surgery, they hand instruments to the surgeon, anticipate what’s needed next, and keep track of all supplies to ensure nothing is left behind. Afterward, they help clean up, account for all equipment, and get the room ready for the next procedure.
Why are Surgical Technologists a vital part of the Surgical team? It is because they allow the surgical team to focus fully on the patient. By managing the tools, the sterile field, and the setup, they create an environment where the surgery can proceed efficiently and safely. Their attention to detail and quick response can make a significant difference in the success of an operation.
